For the Ranji Trophy 2026–2027 season, Rahul Chahar has joined the Jammu & Kashmir cricket squad. Since making his domestic debut in 2016, the cunning leg-spinner has been a member of the Rajasthan cricket team. The 27-year-old most recently played County Cricket for the Surrey cricket club in England. Notably, Chahar has recently joined Paras Dogra and Murugan Ashwin as a “guest player” on the Jammu and Kashmir team.
Chahar has played one ODI and six Twenty20 internationals for India. He is a right-arm leg-spinner who has been a regular in the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing for teams like the Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians. He most recently represented Surrey in English county cricket.
Rahul Chahar will represent the Jammu and Kashmir cricket side in Ranji Trophy 2026–2027 matches, according to journalist Mohsin Kamal. He was a member of the Rajasthan cricket squad last year, but he is currently a “guest player” with the reigning champions. Notably, Chahar is the third foreign player to represent the Jammu and Kashmir team, behind star spinner Murugan Ashwin and skipper Paras Dogra.
At a fantastic bowling average of 24.92, Chahar took 14 wickets for the Surrey Cricket Club in just six innings across five games during the 2026 County Championship Division One season in England. Late last year, he also participated in a few 20-over Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches for Rajasthan. Overall, it is anticipated that Rahul’s inclusion in the Jammu and Kashmir lineup will bolster their spin-bowling attack and provide the reigning champions with invaluable local experience for the 2026–2027 Ranji Trophy season.
Murugan Ashwin, a leg-spinner from Tamil Nadu, had previously been used by J&K as a guest player. Ashwin did not play in the team’s red-ball setup, although he did play for them in white-ball cricket. Chahar’s signing was made possible by his recent retirement from Indian cricket.
