After struggling against Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling assault throughout their innings, Madushanka produced amazing figures of 5/34 from 8.3 overs as Pakistan was dismissed for just 110 in 25.3 overs. After that, Kamindu Mendis scored an unbeaten 62 from 60 deliveries, including two sixes and eight fours, as Sri Lanka quickly reached 114/2 in just 18.1 overs, finishing the chase with 191 balls left. After a lacklustre batting performance, Sri Lanka dominated with both bat and ball in the decisive victory, leaving Pakistan with minimal gains.
In his second over, Dilshan Madushanka removed the dangerous Fakhar Zaman. Asitha Fernando trapped Maaz Sadaqat in front of the stumps a few overs later, and he too followed his opening companion back to the hut. With Sri Lanka leading the pivotal match, Saad Baig and Salman Ali Agha were dismissed for single-digit scores. Eshan Malinga ended Babar’s stay at the crease, although Babar looked good during his 29-run knock off 33 balls. Pakistan was reeling at 64/6 when Shadab Khan was dismissed in the fifteenth over.
Dilshan Madushanka’s outstanding bowling performance, which prevented Pakistan from scoring a competitive score with five wickets, was the cornerstone of Sri Lanka’s triumph. After losing five wickets for 61 runs in the first 14 overs, Pakistan’s batting lineup was unable to recover, as they collapsed to 110 all out in just 25.3 overs.
In response, Sri Lanka easily chased down the target thanks to Kamindu Mendis’ calm yet aggressive undefeated half-century. With 31.5 overs left, Sri Lanka won by eight wickets, demonstrating their superiority in a one-sided match and producing yet another decisive outcome in the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series 2026.
England’s chances of making it to the final were dashed by Sri Lanka’s victory on Tuesday. The summit match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will take place in Lahore on Saturday, October 31. On Thursday, the Lankan Lions will play England in a dead rubber at the same location before to the final.
