BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said that following the IPL auctions held in international venues over the last three years- Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi- the event this year will take place within India, in Goa.
“This year, after hosting the IPL auction in three foreign locations- Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi last year, we are going to host it in Goa in the month of December,” he said.
Saikia’s statement confirmed Goa as the host city and December 2026 as the month for the IPL 2027 player auction. Reports released between September 19 and 20 had suggested the second week of December as a likely timeframe, but the BCCI has not yet finalised a specific date; additional scheduling details are anticipated to be announced soon.
The auction will act as the player selection event for IPL 2027, the next instalment of the tournament, and its return to India concludes a stretch during which it was held in Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi over three straight years.
In other developments, the multi-day match between India A Women and Australia A Women, originally set from September 29 to October 2 in Dharamshala, has been moved to the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. The alteration was implemented because of continuous rainfall that impacted the outfield and pitch conditions in Dharamshala.
The PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali is currently hosting the three-match One-Day series between the two teams. This change comes after India A Women secured a four-wicket win in the first One-Day match, chasing down a target of 236 runs.
Saikia revealed, “We have recently shifted the upcoming T20 matches from Dharamshala to Mohali because the ongoing weather conditions in Dharamshala are not very conducive for cricket. A lot of rainfall has been taking place there. Because of this incessant rainfall in Dharamshala, we decided that the matches should be moved to Mohali to ensure cricket activities continue without any interference from the weather.”
