Following Porel’s arrest, Hooghly (Rural) Superintendent of Police Kunar Bhushan Singh said to PTI, “There was a case lodged against him and a court order to arrest him. He was arrested late last night. He will be produced in court today.”
The next hearing in the case will take place on September 14, 2026, according to the Calcutta High Court. Porel will stay in judicial custody until the court reopens the case on that date because no bail has been granted thus far. The court’s previous rulings on the seizure of electronic devices imply that investigators are using digital evidence to strengthen their case.
