For the two-match home series against Sri Lanka, Pakistan has selected a 14-man Test team. Batters Sameer Minhas, Mohammad Taha, and Mohammad Suleman have been called up for the first time. Babar Azam will captain the team, and before the series starts, selectors intend to add two pacers from the Pakistan Patrons squad. The matches are a part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–2027, where Sri Lanka is presently ranked seventh and Pakistan is currently last.
Agha and Rizwan were two of seven Pakistani players dismissed from the August Test series in England, where the visitors were defeated 3-0. Agha has not played in the Test setup since that visit. Ali Usman, a left-arm spinner who was sent home from the England trip prior to the third and final Test of that series, has also returned to the team. Babar Azam will be the team’s leader in both games.
The first Test is set for November 9–13 in Rawalpindi, and the second is set for November 17–21 in Lahore. Both games are a part of the current World Test Championship cycle, where Sri Lanka is ranked seventh and Pakistan is now in ninth and last place.
Abdullah Shafique, who struggled in England with 84 runs over six innings despite an undefeated 160 in the most recent Port of Spain Test against the West Indies, is one of the notable absences. The spin bowlers Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, as well as former Test skipper Shan Masood, have also been dropped.
Three uncapped batsmen who have impressed the selectors with their domestic cricket achievements are part of the 14-person team. As Pakistan looks to improve from the bottom of the World Test Championship standings, Mohammad Taha, Sameer Minhas, and Mohammad Suleman have all been called up to the Test team for the first time. Sri Lanka, which is ranked eighth in the same standings, will offer an authentic test in both locations.
