Big India Change! Anshul Kamboj Replaces Prasidh Krishna for 3rd ODI

Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has been named as Prasidh Krishna’s replacement for the third and final ODI against the West Indies, scheduled for Saturday in New Chandigarh. Prasidh suffered a left hamstring injury during India’s second ODI in Guwahati, which they won by eight wickets, and has since been ruled out. Kamboj, removed from the India ‘A’ game against Australia ‘A’ in Puducherry, will join the squad in Chandigarh ahead of the final ODI.

Reports confirm that Chennai Super Kings have added pace bowler Anshul Kamboj to the squad in place of the departed player. Krishna will not travel to New Chandigarh, where the series decider is scheduled for October 3. Prior to his national call-up, Kamboj was playing for India A. In his most recent appearance with India A, during the first innings, he bowled 17.3 overs and took 3 wickets for 34 runs. He then bowled a two-over spell in the second innings, conceding only 3 runs. He left the India A camp on Thursday after his replacement was confirmed.

On Thursday in an official statement, BCCI quotes, “Fast bowler Prasidh Krishna sustained a left hamstring injury during the second ODI in Guwahati and has been ruled out of the third ODI. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Anshul Kamboj as Prasidh’s replacement. Kamboj will join the squad in Chandigarh. The decision has been taken in view of the upcoming Test series against New Zealand. With the Ranji Trophy season commencing on October 11, Washington will get an opportunity to play red-ball cricket for his state team and prepare for the Test series”

Kamboj’s more extensive recent performance strengthens the case for his selection. He took the most wickets for Chennai Super Kings during the 2026 Indian Premier League season. So far, his only international appearance has been in a Test match against England in Manchester in July 2025. India has not yet awarded him a white-ball cap, making his selection in this squad a meaningful advancement in his international career.
