The first-ever ICC Women’s Champions Trophy will be held in India in 2027. The six-team competition will take place in Mumbai and Vadodara from February 14 to 28. The historic competition, which will include Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, will take place at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium, the ICC announced on Wednesday, September 2.
Sri Lanka was initially given the award for the event. After Sri Lanka Cricket carried out the improvements suggested at the ICC Annual Conference in July, it was moved. The ICC considered South Africa, Bangladesh, and India as possible substitute hosts before suggesting India to the Board.
Sri Lanka will continue to be a participating team in the competition. The matches will take place at two locations: the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium and the Cricket Club of India pitch in Mumbai. On September 2, 2026, the ICC verified the locations and dates.
Pakistan will not compete in the competition. Based on where they were in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings as of the July 6 deadline, the six competing teams were eligible. Each team will compete against the other five teams in a round-robin format. On February 28, the top two teams from the league stage will move on to the championship game.
Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka are the six countries that will participate. Each team will play each other once during a round-robin league stage in the T20I format. The field has a long history. Australia won the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in July 2026 in England, while India won the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. Both teams are among the top competitors.
