According to media sources on Sunday, August 30, Telangana plans to construct a brand-new, top-notch cricket stadium in the Future City. According to sources cited by The Hindu, the state government is searching for a 100-acre location for the project, for which the foundation stone is expected to be laid in December. Based on locations like Lord’s in England, it would be a stadium-cum-multipurpose athletic and events site.
The new stadium’s foundation stone is expected to be set in December 2026, officially kicking off a project that has garnered significant interest from the state government and cricket officials. The Telangana government will provide land for the development under the planned arrangement, while the BCCI will be in charge of financing construction and managing the facility’s long-term upkeep.
According to the newspaper, the plan is in response to directives from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who has emphasised the necessity of top-notch sporting facilities in Future City. For the proposed stadium, officials are assessing potential locations in Bharat Future City.
With a capacity of more than 1.32 lakh, it has the potential to surpass Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium as the biggest cricket arena in the nation. It is also anticipated that its construction will cost more than the stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Future City location was chosen with connectivity in mind. Supporters from a variety of locales throughout Hyderabad and the adjacent districts will be able to get to the stadium thanks to its direct access to both the Outer Ring Road and the Regional Ring Road.
The transportation system that serves the stadium site includes Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, which is crucial for international teams and spectators travelling to Hyderabad for major events. Large match-day audiences will have a dependable, high-capacity public transit alternative thanks to the anticipated Metro Rail extension.
